Consumer Protection Litigation

Patients not Patents, acting on behalf of itself, individual consumers, and the general public has brought several lawsuits against makers of dietary supplements for false and deceptive trade practices.  Dietary supplements are virtually unregulated in the United States, with lax enforcement of the minimal regulations that exist.  As a result, false and misleading advertising is rampant.  Patients not Patents has been successful in forcing changes to the labeling and advertising for many popular weight loss and dietary supplement products.  Unfortunately, the settlement agreements typically include non-disclosure provisions which prevent Patients not Patents from identifying the particular companies and products at issue.
